Ello & Guido Brink Fund Visiting Artists Lecture Series
Michael Ashkin works in various media (sculpture, photography, video) and addresses issues of landscape, specifically the intersection of subjectivity with the social, economic, and political production of space. Michael Ashkin holds an M.A. in Middle East Languages and Cultures from Columbia University, a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Oriental Studies and an M.F.A. in Painting/Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ashkin has exhibited broadly, including at the prestigious Whitney Biennial Exhibition in 1997, Documenta 11 in Kassel, Germany, and numerous solo exhibitions in London, Paris, Cologne, Chicago and New York.
