Liz De Decker and Sara Mulloy are hosting a show, titled Home Furnishings, at 2485 N. Frederick Ave., on Milwaukee’s East Side. The exhibition will feature the work of two other alums graduates, Kendra Barron and Ben Bowman, in addition to a few works by Mulloy. All four are recent grads (Painting 2006).
The show will be held in an empty second story East Side flat. Each group of oil paintings depicts the furnishings that occupy a typical living space. They evoke a feeling of human absence, yet attempt to fill the void of the expected household items. The paintings will adorn several rooms of the apartment and encourage the impression of vacancy while still sustaining the sense of residence.
Home Furnishings will hold its opening reception on Friday, July 21st, from 5pm to 9pm, and is located at 2485 N. Frederick Ave., Milwaukee, WI. The show will also be open Tuesday – Saturday, July 25 – 29, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Parking is limited.
