Professor Anne Ghory-Goodman, as a member of the AIGA Cross Cultural Design Group Board, traveled to Hong Kong to present designer Henry Steiner with a Fellow’s award for his work in Asia over the past 40 years including the identity for the HSBC bank and the design of Hong Kong’s currency. Ukrit Danaivan (MIAD ’07) joined her from Bangkok to assist in creating a video documentary about Steiner.
She then traveled to Beijing where she taught a web design seminar at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the site of the design office for the 2008 Olympics. In addition to meeting with professional and academic colleagues, she gave a public lecture, "What is important?… to learn, to design, to become," illustrated with work done by students at MIAD.
In addition, Professor Ghory-Goodman has recently returned from Cuba where she was among the U.S. delegates to the International Congress of Graphic Design Association’s Design Week Havana. Professionals and educators from 57 countries participated.
