Fall 2024 New Student Information

Welcome to MIAD!

On behalf of the faculty and staff at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, we look forward to welcoming you to campus in August. This page is exclusively for new students who have decided to attend MIAD this fall. Please continue to check back as this page is regularly updated.

Tuition Deposit

To secure a space in our fall class, students are required to submit a tuition deposit. This payment informs MIAD that you intend to enroll for the upcoming semester.

What Happens Next?

We are excited that you’ll be joining us this fall! Now that you’ve made your college decision, many different offices on campus will be sharing information to help you prepare to attend MIAD. You’ve received our 2024 What Happens Next brochure via your MIAD email account which covers many frequently asked questions and answers to help you plan this summer and prepare for fall. We can’t wait to welcome you to campus!

Email Accounts

Deposited students began receiving their official MIAD email account in mid-May. Activation instructions are sent to a student’s personal email address on file with the Office of Admissions. We encourage you to activate and begin using your MIAD email account right away. Important information, including registration and Orientation materials, will be sent to your MIAD email only.

If you recently deposited, you will receive your activation instructions soon.

New Student Registration

New Student Registration is now open and began in mid-June via your MIAD email account.

Be Financially Prepared for Fall

Tuition invoices are mailed after you register for classes. Do you have questions on how to cover your balance, pay for housing or purchase technology? Be financially prepared for fall! Summer is a great time to connect with MIAD’s Financial Aid Office, if you have not already done so. They are happy to answer questions regarding funding your balance for tuition and housing, applying for a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), or securing a private loan. It is also important that you use the summer to complete any missing documents or verification.

If this is your first time borrowing Federal student loans, you’ll also need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and an Entrance Counseling Session, which help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. Both the MPN and the Entrance Counseling Session can be completed online at studentaid.gov. Use your FSA ID to log in, the same one you used to complete the FAFSA online.

Have questions? Connect with MIAD’s outstanding financial aid staff.

Transcripts, Scores & More!
  • All new, entering students must submit final transcripts at the conclusion of their semester to the Office of Admissions. First-time freshman must submit a final transcript showing their date of graduation. This transcript can be requested from your school counselor and sent to MIAD digitally or via mail (273 E. Erie St., Milwaukee, WI 53202). A final, official transcript must be on file with the Office of Admissions prior to the start of fall classes.
  • Transfer students should ensure a transcript with final grades for the semester is sent to MIAD as soon as possible to ensure timely evaluation of credits and registration.
  • High school students who have taken classes for credit through a pre-college or dual enrollment program must submit a final, official transcript to MIAD prior to the start of classes for credit consideration.
  • Students may request to have their AP (Advanced Placement) scores sent to MIAD at: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/sending-scores. MIAD’s AP school code is 1506. One free score send is available through June 20 via the AP website.
  • MIAD also recognizes the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Program. Official records should be sent to MIAD for evaluation.
