Bridge Work 01, the Plum Blossom Initiative’s first project, brings emerging artists to light in Milwaukee. The exhibition features Integrated Studio Arts alumni Rachel Hausmann ’15, Kayle Karbowski ’15 and Julia Levis ’15.
Bridge Work 01 is on view in The Pitch Project’s second floor Platform Space, 706 S. 5th St., November 13 – November 22, with an Opening Reception Friday, November 13, 7 – 9 p.m.
Plum Blossom Initiative is a collaborative effort between MIAD Professor and Co-director of The Pitch Project Jason S. Yi and Leah Kolb, Associate Curator at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. The initiative seeks to provide emerging artists with the professional development and networking opportunities that are instrumental in self-driven, and sustainable, studio practices.
“Being given the opportunity to be a part of Bridge Work 01 was very rewarding. I was contacted shortly after the Senior Exhibition last spring, and it was great to know that a curator was interested in my work,” said Hausmann.
The exhibition is the final product of six months of work, the young artists worked with Yi and Kolb, “I felt that it pushed me to continue working and allowed me to get some critical feedback; which can be hard to find after graduation,” said Hausmann.
