Abby Armstrong Check (she/her) is a medievalist whose research interests explore patronage, urbanism, architectural performance, material culture, and the medieval built environment of France. Her dissertation explores the medieval fair town of Provins, near Paris, through an exploration of social history, patronage, architecture, and material culture of the Counts of Champagne, inhabitants, and religious communities of the town.
She has been an adjunct lecturer throughout Milwaukee since 2017. She has also taught courses as an adjunct with Mount Mary University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is also a painter, dabbling mostly in ink, oil paint, and the historical practice of egg tempera.
