Ryan Carter is the Art Director at Traction Factory, working in tandem with artists and copywriters to devise and execute original, unique, and exceptional concepts for commercial advertising. Carter was previously the Creative Director for Horny Goat Brewing Co., a craft beer business with ten varieties of bottled beers and its own pub and restaurant in the heart of Walker’s Point in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Horny Goat Brewing Co. focuses heavily on branding, so graphic art and creative writing act as the driving forces behind their products. Carter walked in the door as an intern, and in a short time was responsible for writing and designing the brewing company’s national marketing campaigns. Carter said, “Drawings I did on my kitchen floor are on beer bottles in every grocery store in my town; I was psyched!”
“Just before I graduated from the Illustration program at MIAD I felt scared for the future, like every other college kid. As an Illustrator, I thought I would be selling my soul every day for a chance to do a couple cartoons for a newspaper. I never could have imagined the potential my MIAD education provided me. Focus in school, research your field, do your best on every project, and you will see that MIAD provides you with every tool you need to solve the problem. A good illustrator makes the client feel like they can handle anything. MIAD definitely makes you prove to yourself that you are an art super-soldier; a problem solver that can tackle any project your client can dream up!
