  • Last year, MIAD collaborated with Marquette University, Milwaukee Public Schools, Delta Faucet, Fiskars, PetFest, Colectivo, 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, Penfield Children’s Center and Trusted Media Brands to bring real-world design projects into the classroom.
  • The MIAD Innovation Center, launched in Fall 2018, serves as an incubator for student ideas and connects businesses and nonprofits to our passionate students who apply technology in unmatched ways to deliver strategic design solutions.

Community programs

With the support of generous donors, MIAD offers programs for high school youth.

  • MIAD’s Pre-College program provides college-level instruction in art and design to hundreds of high school students each year. Scholarships are available for Summer Pre-College. Applications are due April 1. Last year, 62% of participating youth received scholarships averaging $1,337.
  • MIAD’s off-site Future Designers program brings design experiences, technologies, career pathways and curricular enrichment to Milwaukee area high schools.

  • among the top 10 art and design colleges in the country.
  • the top art and design college in the country for helping low-income students attain upper-middle-class jobs. 

Graphic Design USA named MIAD a Top Design School in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, plus named two MIAD students 2019 Students to Watch.

Enrollment Growth

MIAD  is celebrating our largest enrollment in history: 860 studentsThe college has grown 40% over the past 5 years.

Our students choose from one of five Bachelor of Fine Arts majors: Communication Design, Illustration, Interior Architecture and Design, Industrial (product) Design and New Studio Practice: Fine Arts. The college offers 18 additional academic programs, including Arts Management, Furniture Design and Digital Media Production. In 2018, the college launched the MIAD Innovation Center.
