Emily Siira ’17 wins second place in the 2018 Morton Kesten Universal Design Competition
Emily Siira ’17, who is currently employed at GE Healthcare, won second place in the 2018 Morton Kesten Universal Design Competition for a design she created while at student at MIAD. The Morton Kesten Universal Design Competition “recognizes extraordinary designs for products and spaces that make life easier for everyone, including older or disabled individuals.” Emily’s design, the Cinch Hamper, has wheels and a lifting system within the bin, and “employs mechanical advantage to do the lifting and transport of clothing for the user while also providing a simplified system for clothes hanging.” More information.
