First-Year Experience program highlighted in Juried Exhibition, awards ceremony

Visitors to the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design’s (MIAD) second floor can experience the best of the best of MIAD’s First-Year Experience program.

After hundreds of pieces were submitted, 60 art and design works by MIAD first-year students were chosen for the 2018 First-Year Experience Juried Exhibition.

From there, guest jurors Shana McCaw and Brent Budsberg chose five students to receive awards. They made selections based on the works’ mysterious qualities that kept drawing them back in during judging.

Award winners Clare Curran, Allie Fischer, Katherine Grinell, KC Harrison and Heidi Thiel were honored at a ceremony on April 6.
