or the 11th time in 11 years, a MIAD student has won an award in the international Association of Rotational Molders Design Competition. This year, Industrial Design senior Antonio Siegle won first place for his chair design that focuses on style and storage.
As a component of the course Materials & Manufacturing Processes, students created and submitted work to the 2012 international competition, which aims to encourage the use of rotational molding as a manufacturing process for design students as they enter the Industrial Design field.
Siegle said, “I had to read the email three to five times just to understand that it happened! I was going for comfort, storage and then style.”
Senior Professor of Industrial Design Pascal Malassigné, FIDSA, added, “Antonio’s winning project is an elegant chair design solution that reflects the special design requirements of the rotational molding process.”
