A message from MIAD President Neil Hoffman
MIAD has just completed its comprehensive reaccreditation review by the regional accrediting association, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and the national accrediting agency for schools of art and design, NASAD. I am pleased to announce that on October 18, 2010, the college received formal notification of the continuation of its accredited status with these agencies. MIAD’s next comprehensive evaluation is scheduled for 2019 – 2020.
As you may know, the reaccreditation review is thorough and detailed. It is conducted by our peers in higher education and is based upon the two accrediting organizations’ rigorous standards. The review followed MIAD’s two-year self-study and a site visit, which occurred April 26-28, 2010. A summary of the visiting team’s findings can be found here; the complete Visitors Report document is housed in the library, and is also available upon request.
The Visitors Report recognizes MIAD’s strengths as well as our challenges. We are in total agreement with these findings and have already begun taking actions that continue the college’s quest for constant improvement.
We are pleased to share this information with you; if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact David Martin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Cynthia Lynch, Associate Vice President for Academic Planning & Assessment, or me. This is a significant achievement on the part of the college in which we all can take pride.
