United Way of Greater Milwaukee is celebrating its centennial anniversary in part through a logo concepted by Communication Design student Chelsea Atwell ’10.

“Throughout our history, United Way of Greater Milwaukee has received strong community support and our partnership with MIAD is no exception,” said Ann Stadler, Vice President, United Way of Greater Milwaukee.

“As we approached our 100th anniversary, we worked with Professor Phil Belair and his class to concept a logo for our milestone. Chelsea’s respect for our brand guidelines and bold creativity earned her the opportunity to work with our agency partner Jigsaw LLC to finalize the concept into the creative the public sees today.

“Our 100th anniversary logo has appeared in hundreds of United Way advertisements, marketing materials, press releases and correspondence bringing the message of our strong history to the forefront of the public’s attention. We appreciate Chelsea’s contributions to our anniversary celebration and are proud to have our logo in her portfolio.”

“The United Way project was a great way to give back to the community by using my creativity,” said Atwell. “I am grateful to Phil Belair for giving the class the opportunity to work on a real-world design project. By working with Jigsaw, I was introduced to talented creative professionals who helped me further develop my work and skills.”
