A new furniture exhibition, opening on Summer Gallery Night, features student works created in the Spring 2016 furniture class, taught by Robert Lynch and Dick Ivens, as well as works created by local artisans that will be featured in the Fall 2016 Fine Furnishings Show.
The exhibition is on view in the Entrance and River Level Galleries, with an Opening Reception on Summer Gallery Night, July 22.
Ivens and Lynch have been teaching furniture design at MIAD for nearly a decade, working with a number of talented students. This year “two pieces designed and built by students Christian Franczyk ’17 (IA+D) and Jennifer Voss ’18 (IA+D) were selected as finalists in the Design Emphasis Student Furniture Design Competition at the International Woodworking Fair 2016,” added Lynch.
The exhibition will showcase these and other high caliber student works from Spring 2016, and a selection of work that will be featured in the Fall 2016 Fine Furnishings Show at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
“The quality of work produced by this group of students was as high as any class that we’ve offered to date. This is just what we’d hoped to achieve as we head into the inaugural year of our new Furniture Design Minor at MIAD,” added Lynch.
