Vibrant patterns created using digital technology and the work of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee members are celebrated during Winter Gallery Night at MIAD, Friday, Jan. 22, 5 – 9 p.m.
Opening Friday, Jan. 22, A Dual Exhibition, on view in the Fourth Floor Raw Space, is comprised of two parts, Repetition – Reticulation and Patterns in Contemporary Design. Repetition – Reticulation is a national, curated exhibition of six diverse visual arts practitioners whose work focuses on repetition and patterns illustrating changes in perspective specific to the contemporary cultural environment.
Patterns in Contemporary Design is an expanded version of Naturally Wisconsin, a pattern-design competition sponsored by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). Each of the 16 winning designs are shown separately, and combined into one large quilt-like work.
A Dual Exhibition: Contemporary Visual Patternmaking is on view in the Fourth Floor Raw Space through March 5.
Also on view during Gallery Night, The Boys & Girls Club exhibition, on view in the Fourth Floor Raw Space, is comprised of more than 40 works, including sculpture, mixed media, painting and more. Judges select the top three pieces to be submitted to the Regional and National Boys & Girls Club competition.
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee Exhibition is on view in the Fourth Floor Raw Space through Jan. 23.
